Dues & Popcorn

To cover the costs of Scouting for one calendar year, Pack 2220 relies on annual dues plus fundraising.

Dues

Returning scouts will be contacted by National BSA to pay renewal fees for registration.

New scouts register and pay the registration and participation fee through when they join Pack 2220.

Pack 2220 dues for the 2026-2027 Scouting year are TBD — check with our for the latest figure.

We collect dues after popcorn sales are complete each year.

Popcorn — Our Main Fundraiser

We sell popcorn through Boy Scouts of America each fall. This is our main fundraiser for the year, and it helps us run a quality, engaging program for our scouts — funding campouts, derbies, and other special events. Our main popcorn sale runs from July through October.

How to sell

Download the Trail’s End App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, or text APP to 62771 to get the download link.
Complete registration through the app.
Record all sales in the app — Online Direct, Storefront, and Door-to-Door.

Sales typically start in early August — watch Scoutbook and Pack communications for the exact kickoff date.

Our scouts get very excited about popcorn sales, both online and in-person, and many exceed their fundraising goals — enough to cover part or all of their dues for the year!

Scoutbook

Scoutbook is our electronic management system where we track upcoming events and scout advancement. We use it for a lot of Pack and den communication, so be sure you’re signed up and can receive the emails!

Once you’re registered with Pack 2220 through , your den leader or the Pack Committee will help get you connected in Scoutbook.

Uniform Guide

Pack 2220 scouts need two uniforms: a Field Uniform (Class A) and an Activity Uniform (Class B). Here’s what each one includes and where to get it.

Field Uniform (Class A) — for 1st grade and up

Field uniforms can be purchased from or in person at the Northern Virginia Scout Store, 5232 Port Royal Rd, Springfield, VA 22151. You can also use a hand-me-down or check a local thrift store.

The Field Uniform consists of:

Shirt

Lion Scouts (Kindergartners) wear the blue Lion shirt.
Scouts in Tigers, Wolves, and Bear dens wear the blue Cub Scout shirt.
Scouts in Webelos or Arrow of Light can wear either the blue or khaki Cub Scout shirt.

Patches for the uniform

American flag patch (right shoulder)
World Scouting crest (above left pocket)
National Capital Area Council patch (left shoulder)
Pack 2220 patch (left shoulder) — your Advancement Coordinator will give you this

You can purchase uniform shirts with the flag and council patch pre-sewn at the Northern Virginia Scout Shop.

Neckerchief and slide — any slide is fine, save your money and skip the rank-specific ones!

Hat

Belt — Scouts in Lions, Tigers, Wolves, and Bear dens will also need a belt, since many of the awards they earn are “belt loops.” Any belt works; it doesn’t need to be the official Cub Scout belt.

Webelos don’t need a belt, but will need their Webelos Color, a pin available at the Scout Shop.
Arrow of Light scouts don’t have a required neckerchief or hat — their patrol can decide.

All other clothing items are left to the discretion of the scout and adult. Regular street or exercise clothes are perfectly fine. There are official Cub Scout pants, shorts, and socks, but Pack 2220 does not require them.

Field Uniforms are worn to Pack meetings, most den meetings, and most Pack outings.

Activity Uniform (Class B) — for all ages

The Activity Uniform consists of:

Pack t-shirt — a blue shirt purchased through our Pack Treasurer.

Lion Scouts (Kindergartners) are only required to have a Class B uniform. All other clothing items are left to the discretion of the scout and adult — regular street or exercise clothes are perfectly fine.

Activity Uniforms are worn during some den meetings, some Pack outings, and at camp.

Note

The Cubmaster will announce the uniform of the day for each event, so keep an eye on Scoutbook and Pack communications.

Volunteer & Event Points of Contact

Pack 2220 is run entirely by volunteer parents. If you’re serving as the Point of Contact (POC) for an upcoming Pack event, thank you for your service to our scouts — here’s a cheat sheet to help make your event a success.

What does an Event POC do?

The Pack Committee Chair and Cubmaster may select an individual to serve as the point-of-contact for a given event or program. A POC’s responsibilities include:

Working with the Cubmaster and Committee Chair to make sure the event reflects the spirit of the Pack and Scouts BSA — reference the BSA Guide to Safe Scouting as needed
Coordinating budget with the Treasurer, and food or beverage needs with the Social Chair
Monitoring RSVPs and keeping the Pack Committee updated on any changes

Planning Timeline

At least 1 month before

Create a schedule for the event. Allot time for the Cubmaster and Advancement Chair to present awards, and for a flag ceremony and invocation, at the Cubmaster’s discretion. Make any needed reservations.

1 month before

Share essential details with the Pack Committee so the Secretary can create a timely Scoutbook event and include it in the monthly newsletter. Solicit Committee input as needed.

1 week before

Make sure there are enough adult leaders and volunteers to set up, run, and take down the event. If you’re short on volunteers, contact the Cubmaster and Committee Chair right away.

Day of

Monitor RSVPs in Scoutbook and adjust plans as needed. Inform Pack Committee members of any last-minute changes.
